Halloween 2016

Happy Halloween everyone! This year truthfully I was planning on doing a huge Oceans 11-esque shoot with 11 of my friends all dolled up with code names and jobs and everything! The day itself came and...well...we were all really tired that day! Instead Jess, Tessa, and I decided to dress up on the actual day of Halloween and an impromptu photo shoot followed! Happy Halloween from Miss Fire, Teacup, and Master K!
Our hardened criminal Teacup
A duel between the sniper and the boss; Miss Fire and Master K
A cow, an elephant, and a unicorn crashed our shoot!

Hope y'all have a great Halloween 2016!

What did you dress up as this year? Do you like Halloween or could you live without it? Let's chat in the comments!

Halloween Treats: Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Bites

Just in time for any October 31st celebrations you may have planned, I have the perfect recipe for you! Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Pretzel Bites. Phew, what a mouthful. Literally.

What You'll Need
1 cup peanut butter (creamy or crunchy, I used creamy)
3 ounces cream cheese (softened)
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
4 cups Corn Chex cereal (crushed)
3 tablespoons butter (melted)
1 cup dark chocolate chips (you can also use semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips)
Mini pretzels

What You Do
(Little disclaimer here, as a college student at the mercy of the availability of supplies in our communal dorm kitchen I used a cooking pot as a bowl and used a round pan instead of a typical 8x8)
Cream together the peanut butter and cream cheese. You can use a blender, I just used a spoon and it worked just fine.
Add the powdered sugar and melted butter. Mix together well.
Crush your Corn Chex in a bag and add to the bowl.
The mixture will be very chunky at this point so I gave up on the spoon and used my hand to mush all the ingredients together to help blend better.
Press the mixture into the bottom of the parchment paper-lined pan. Obviously I had to use a different pan so in an 8x8 baking pan you won't have so thick a layer of this mixture.
Pour the melted chocolate overtop of this mixture. (We had a little mishap with our chocolate so there wasn't as much as the recipe actually calls for so you won't have so sparse a chocolate layer and won't have to spread it out quite so thin)
(Tessa "supervising")
Press the pretzels, as many as you'd like in whatever pattern, lightly into the chocolate and slip the pan in the freezer! After 45 minutes you are free to remove the pan, let it come to room temperature, and cut! Do be sure to let it come to room temperature though, otherwise the chocolate will be too brittle and break.
Here is your new favorite Halloween treat: a crunchy, salty, and sweet treat! Sure to scare up a few requests for the recipe at your next Halloween (or other!) party!

6 Ways to Spice-Up Date Night!

Autumn is, by far, my favorite season. The leaves changing, pumpkins, the weather getting colder, the excuse to drink as much hot chocolate as possible--it's all amazing. Every season has its perks but autumn is just extra-magical. So when the folks over at Turo asked me to write a post about my best tips for spicing up date night, I knew there was no better time than right now in my favorite season! So without further ado, here are my top 6 tips on how to spice up your date nights!

Get scared // Let's jump right in to the autumn-themed date nights with a classic: go on a date to a haunted house, one of the Halloween events at a theme park, a ghost-filled hayride....anything to get your palms sweaty! For example, Busch Gardens theme park has their annual Howl-o-Scream event that has seven haunted houses & countless extra-spooky events that will keep you jumping all night! Taking a haunted hay ride is a special way to scare the crap out of you & your significant other, all while making you feel like you're living in the 1700s--a terrifying thought in itself. If you or your date isn't that into being terrified, you can always snuggle up on the couch with some candy corn and hot chocolate to watch a few scary movies (I personally recommend the Scream trilogy).

Head outdoors // Autumn is a season best enjoyed outside and there are so many ways to bring your date to the great outdoors! Visiting a pumpkin patch is still one of my favorite things to do during autumn. Strolling through rows and rows of pumpkins, finding the perfect one, drinking some hot apple cider and getting to wear your cutest autumn outfit...the day is a win overall. A really cute date could be going to the pumpkin patch, picking a few beauties, and decorating them together! Alternatively you could find an apple orchard, spend the day climbing trees and filling up basket and baskets with apples, and trying to see how many apple-filled recipes you can make with your six and a half bushels of apples.

Take a day trip // If you and your love have an entire day to dedicate to your date, it's always fun to explore new places together! Now I'm not suggesting hopping a flight to an exotic locale or anything like that....I'm telling you taking a car even 2 hours down the road can be as exciting. Pick a place on the map nearby that you've never been, pack the car with some snacks, a blanket, your favorite songs and go! A way to make this date even better would be to rent a fun car for the day! Turo is a car sharing service where people list their cars and you can rent them for a daily rate! They have a fun selection of everyday makes and models as well as classic & rare cars like Teslas and vintage cars. Surprise your love by renting their dream car for the day and driving to a place you've never been! Check out Turo for your next car rental need.

Dress up // October is basically Halloween-month. Bearing this in mind, if you find yourselves invited to a costume party, take your love and go full-on costumes. They don't even have to match! A fun idea is both of you getting your own costumes, getting ready separately and then surprising each other with what you've picked. Alternatively, if you plan to hand out candy on Halloween--dress up for it! It's infinitely more fun surprising trick or treaters at the door dressed up in costume than just in your pjs, believe me.

Get active // Couples that are active together will stay active together, it's a basic fundamental of physics. If you and your other half like to sweat, there are lots of fun ways to turn it into a date! You could go for a hike with your love through a national park, forest, or even up a nearby mountain. Try rollerblading around your neighborhood or biking to your local coffee shop. Take your camera and go for a long walk, taking pictures whenever something catches your eye. It's autumn, the beauty is bound to find you. Spending the day by wandering through a farmers market, taking a picnic to the park, taking your four-legged companion out for the day--fresh air & hand holding always make for a successful date.

Learn something // You learn something new why not make your next date night educational? Booking lessons for you and your love to learn something new, or even hone skills you may already have, is a fun & creative way to spend time together. Take some cooking classes and learn how to make authentic Italian spaghetti sauce. Take a pottery class and make some new masterpieces for your home! Drop in on a wine tasting class and finally learn the difference between a sauvignon blanc and a rosé. You can learn to make cheese, blow glass, play the guitar, even salsa dance! Even if you wind up still clueless about wine or with a lump-shaped vase, you'll treasure the experience.

At the end of the day, whatever time you and your love spend together is magical so it doesn't really matter what you do--these are just some ideas for fun things for autumn!

Thanks again to Turo for suggesting this post
